“Umoja is molding me to be someone”

Sharon is a successful young adult, studying at a nearby college. She has been part of the Umoja family since her father died when she was in class three (3rd grade).

In this brief video, Sharon shares how Umoja is shaping her “to be someone.” She explains how she wants to be a mentor to primary and secondary students, whom Sharon calls “her younger siblings.”

Sharon’s story illustrates Umoja’s coordinated effort to surround students with encouragement and support. Bolstered by their Umoja family, these vulnerable young people gain confidence and pursue their dreams. Some, like Sharon, are even returning to lift up their younger peers by mentoring and providing financial support.
