Students from throughout Central Indiana participated in  the Umoja Youth Conference on Saturday, January 20 at WFYI Headquarters in Indianapolis.

Although the primary focus is to raise money to provide educational expenses for the Umoja Project secondary students, the students do more than fundraising. They connect with Kenyan students through periodic video conversations, exchanges of letters and prayer requests and joint training sessions. Also, groups of Indiana youth have visited Kenya to spend time with the students of the Umoja Project.

Indiana Youth Spearhead STEP UP Fundraising

Since 2008, local Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Christian students in Indiana have worked together to raise awareness and money for their peers in western Kenya. Middle and high school students have led efforts to raise more than $200,000 to fund secondary school tuition and educational expenses for Umoja students.

You can support students in both Chulaimbo and Indiana with your donation!
