Teachers and guardians identified hunger as the primary problem affecting students’ attendance and academic performance. Our school lunch program began in 2008 and now provides a nutritious daily meal to 3,425 students in 19 primary schools. We also supply emergency food to child-headed households of the Umoja Project. This year due to the coronavirus pandemic we also are feeding families due to the economic shutdown in Kenya.
