Many thanks to everyone who helped make Umojacon such a huge success! Thanks to an awesome team of volunteers, we had a great evening of music, food and fun.
In the weeks leading up to the festival, parish members purchased links in a paper chain. Each link represents $5, with blue links indicating a $25 milestone to provide food for one child for a year. By the time of the event, the chain was longer than the entire length of the school lunch room!
The initial goal was $2,500 to feed 100 students, and the congregation raised more than $4,700, enough to provide lunch for 189 students!
